New Mexico Auto Transport by RailAre you interested in New Mexico auto transport by rail services? If so, we can definitely help you! New Mexico isn’t the largest state, nor the most densely populated. But it does have some fairly large cities, and the overall demand for car transportation services isn’t low. However, most shipments to or from New Mexico are handled via trucking companies. The state sits along several major interstate highways which make it easier for them to travel to or from the area. Rail lines do service New Mexico, which makes it easier to find a rail shipper. But there are also reasons why they’re rather difficult to find at all, and we’ll explore that as well.

New Mexico Auto Transport by Rail

The biggest issue with finding New Mexico auto transport by rail services is the fact that car shipping by rail isn’t all that popular. Low demand makes it harder for rail companies to turn a profit. This is especially true if they’re trying to ship cars for individuals. Most rail companies that handle cars are handling them in bulk, for manufacturers and dealerships. This doesn’t lend itself well to the average Joe who wants to ship their car by rail, though. And because of this, there are few routes that rail shippers service today.

This makes it a lot harder for us to find New Mexico auto transport by rail services for you. The biggest areas for car transportation are on the east coast, and that’s where the only reliable form of auto transport by rail – Amtrak’s Auto Train – is. East-west routes for car transport by rail are almost non-existent. If they become more popular there’s a chance more companies will offer transport by rail. However, it’s expensive to move freight via the railroads. And individual shipping companies likely don’t have the cash to rent locomotives or track time. That’s another reason auto transport by rail is harder to find.

We can help you ship your car, though – it just may not be via the railroads. Fill out our free quote request from, or give us a call toll-free, to see how we can help.

Popular Auto Transport Locations in New Mexico

Albuquerque
If there are any auto transport by rail services into or out of New Mexico, Albuquerque is where they’ll be going. As the largest city in the state it naturally sees the most demand. Other terminals in the state probably won’t have the capability of handling automobiles, so this is likely your best bet.

Las Cruces
Though there are rail lines running through Las Cruces, they probably don’t see much in the way of automobiles. Chances are, with how little demand there is for Las Cruces car shipping anyway, that there aren’t rail services available.

Rio Rancho
Rio Rancho sits just north of Albuquerque – the two cities share a border. As such, any vehicle to or from Rio Rancho will likely be picked up or delivered in Albuquerque instead.

Santa Fe
As the capital of the state, there’s a possibility rail transportation is available to or from Santa Fe. However, there’s also a chance there won’t be. We recommend speaking to an agent to learn more.
